Dumb question. (Maybe better for Support, but...)
OK, if I found some old material that used to be posted on a very old thread, but the old thread's reference to youtube or some file share thing is bad/gone/expired/deleted, should we start a new thread or necro the old one with a new pointer? Thanks in advance. |

Re: New thread or Necro? What's best?
It's always best to keep related material in the same thread. Necroposting is only annoying when the poster has nothing to say.

With a necro you are not filling the forum with random threads.

If it's relevant to an old, existing thread, then you keep all the information together by posting it in that thread. |

Re: New thread or Necro? What's best?
In my opinion, it doesn't only depends on how old is the original thread, I would necropost if I have something useful to contribute that it's not worth a thread alone, like information.
I don't like to revive threads when the thread itself is bloated, be flames, randomness or worse, if the thread manages to achieve certain amount of info on the given material I'll use it instead. |
