6 is my average, 8 is my maximum but I need an alarm or I'll never wake up until lunchtime.

After 72 hours without sleep an individual is considered in a dangerous condition. A small minority of humans can survive and function normally while only sleeping several hours per week. This would seem to suggest that the long hours that humans must sleep per night are a vestigial behavioral pattern intended for an earlier stage in our evolution, but now no longer performing a vital function (although all agree that a minimal amount of sleep is required for physical healing and rest), however this is a much debated topic among neurologists and biologists.

Re: How much sleep do you need?

I tend to need eight hours of sleep for the most part. Funnily enough, if I have some sort of obligation that I need to attend, like work or a class, I always manage to wake up in time for it, no matter how little sleep I had beforehand.

If I have no such responsibilities, I sleep the full eight hours, no matter how many alarms I set up or how loud and annoying I set them up to be.

Way more than what I am getting. Between browsing these sites, having a career, family, making TF content/movies and being in a band... I'm lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep a night. In fact I am about..... Zzzzzzzzzzz

Re: How much sleep do you need?

About 6 hours seems right for me, but I bet I would eventually have to have a day where I'd sleep longer to "catch up" a bit. Probably every other week or so; but if not, I could survive.
