Re: On the subject of Trolls

My closing comments for this thread are as follows;

This thread has gone in nearly the exact direction I expected it to. With people on both sides of the fence, arguing their logic with varying degrees of success and poise.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, I feel that everyone who has posted on this thread has proven my main point. Particularly the way in which some posters responded to others. I feel that anyone who is on a high enough level of discourse to acknowledge or debate my argument to begin with, I feel that those individuals will see the evidence I am speaking of.

Final notes. For those of you who agree with me, I thank you for your support. For those who disagree, I value your right to your opinion. For those who argued their case with maturity and clarity, thank you for your effort to do so.. For those of you who did not do so, I have nothing to say.

Re: On the subject of Trolls

Could you please reiterate your main point for members who may have missed it midst the multitude of messages? The claim that the nature of the interactions in an argument proves ones point is a debate tactic that is generally frowned upon as it is often misleading, but as this discussion deals in the details of a discourse style, I will for the moment grant you the benefit of the doubt, and anyways just because an argument is falacious does not mean that the conclusion is so. It is also considered poor form to present new evidence in the conclusion (in this case the claim that the contents of this thread prove your point is the evidence).

As for your closing line regaurding those who did not argue their case with maturity and clarity I have two comments:
1. Saying that you have nothing to say to a group of people is still saying something to that group. This is true not only in the literal since but also in the since that when you verbally express this after making a comment to an opposing group your denial of comment implies a certain meaning, in this case that you do not like their effort. This is very belittling of people with little aptitude at debate or those who were at a chemical disadvantage at the time.
2. In a nice segue, I appologize for my previous post. I partook in a little much little water and was able to form as coherent a thought as I normally am.
