Not even I'm that cynical.
It negates a shows awesomeness to ruin it or run it into the ground, and/or cancel it. So yes. Scratch all those. They fcked up 24 immediately. They don't develop alot of these shows remember, they just buy up the rights and air them. So should a diamond in the rough appear, they'll kill it with awful air times.

Irony isn't it?
That depends.

As much as I appreciate the quality of the TF in something like American Werewolf in London - it's hardly very attractive - even if it had been a woman. Obviously such tfs can be done in a less painful-looking and more sexy manner, but something like that is used even less often (if that's possible).

Why does virtually every decent tf story (in mass media) have to wind up being horror.

I like a good horror story (in any form) as much as the next guy, but I like the idea of injecting tfs into pretty much every other genre as well - heck, I've got a LONG list of movies (somewhere on paper, but mostly on my head) where I've actually gone through them over and over again injecting [repeated and additional in some cases] tfs of different characters, not to mention changing outfits, etc.

And, why not a damn zombie show???? People trying to survive in every ep, more and more cast members disappearing at the hands of a horde of zombies? WTF, do I have to run hollywood? =D
Scifi? Those morons couldn't find their assholes from a hole in the ground (especially Bonnie Hammer - the devil herself).

"Great idea! Let's cancel all our original shows that are popular and bringing in the ratings and just run 3 series of Stargate - that's a surefire winner!"

Let's see - Farscape (contractually obligated for 5 seasons, let go after 4 despite MASSIVE fan support), Invisible Man, The Chronicle, First Wave, the list goes on.

Don't even get me started on their obscenely bad home movie releases.

Hey. better than in the UK where "being human" (series about a werewolf, vampire and ghost living together in a flat) after an awsome one off "pilot" (we don't usually see them in the uk) they changed the tf into a man in a crappy wolf suit for the series. dissapointment. still not as bad as stargate

Farscape was canceled due to the fact that they ran out of money. If I remember correctly, their budget was killed by set designs (which were very good.. and apparently too expensive to maintain). At least they did finish the series with a movie instead of letting it end the way it did in the final episode.

Man, have you seen the ratings stargate brings in? That is good business sense, especially considering how cheap Atlantis is to make. Most of those sets are so cheap Dr. Who would refuse to shoot on them.

Actually Best Brains decided to end MST3k and go off and do something else. It took them a few years to realise that, oh yeah, they were really good mocking bad entertainment.

Actually they did release a few short films with the bots recently. They aren't particularly good.

Honestly, from a theoretical standpoint, I do like sci fi's concept behind these movies: have a budget of nothing so that it's impossible to have a loss and, therefore, the director has the freedom to do just about any damn thing he feels like. It's a shame that I've yet to see any of this ever pay off with an actually watchable movie. Maybe the problem is that when they're making the movie they really can't tell they're making a bad movie. I've seen a making of video for Zarkorr The Destroyer and the people on the set were having a blast.

First time I've ever seen a single thing on why they were let go. Didn't see any kind of justifications at all during the entire process - much less any details - got links?

sci-fi did try to save Farscape. They wanted to cut the budget down from a million an episode to750k an episode or get the producers to run a shortened season and Henson refused either and so sci-fi waved goodbye to Farscape. It was all over the show's forums when it happened.

To say it was money is a gross oversimplification of what happened... and Sci-Fi remain idiots who do little to enrich science-fiction... Yes, be still my beating heart at ANOTHER Stargate spin-off.

Anyway, Farscape was expensive but it was also far and away the best rated show on Sci-Fi... and then they went and did EXECUTIVE MEDDLING in the last season. Personally, I understand Henson's stance.

Then they carted the principles from Farscape into Stargate and gave it an extra couple of seasons of pointlessness.

And yes, Miranda is right - Bitches will suck. Don't get excited about it... and you won't have to worry.

And yes, "Being Human"... is questionable in quality. I need to write something upon it.

Although, I suppose I should mention in passing Demons which has had ONE fleeting moment of transformation in it.

Isn't this supposed to be releasing in the fall? Has anyone heard a peep about it?

I'm afraid despite this commitment payment I keep hearing about, it may be dead.

Well looking back at that commitment payout post a few months back...I'm guessing one or two eps aired - and the rest direct to dvd (or the vault).
