Potential Project. Need help.

I'm thinking of making a growth/gts centered interactive something-or-another. I guess a game in the vein of I-Raf-U or other simple adventure games.(Gather object, use object on other object, solve puzzles, etc.)

But I have a problem, I cannot program nor do I know of any programs that I could use to make the game. I tried messing around in Flash, but I cannot figure out how to do actually make anything work.

I need help. I need either someone who could do this work for me, a simple program that I could work with, or a tutorial of how to make such a game in Flash. If you have information you can post it here or PM it to me.

Just to entice some help, I will list some information about the game itself. It takes place in a modern medium sized city. The main character(not named yet) is visited by a goddess(not named yet). The goddess had many flings back in the day, and thus many illegitimate children. She gave the children away to different families across the world. A couple hundred years later, she wants to have a family reunion of sorts, just to see how her demi-goddess relatives are. The main character is tasked to find the demi-goddesses in the city and "trigger" them(make them grow to goddess size) so they can join the family reunion. (Working on the overall story.)

The game would mostly revolve around talking to and "triggering" a female character until they are large enough to join the goddess. Each demi-goddess has an affinity to some element: fire, water, etc. To trigger the goddess side of a character, you must present them something of their element, such as spraying water on the water-related character.

Of course, not all characters will believe your quest. The fire-related character won't just grab hot coals just because you say so. So you will have to talk to them to convince them. Give them proof. If you give the fire-related character some spicy food, she'll grow a little. Then she will begin to believe you and you are one step closer to her taking the hot coals that will make her giant sized. This is the puzzle aspect of the game.

So that is just my dream rambling. Please, if you are interested or have helpful information PM me or post below. I have also added a quick picture of one of the characters I hope to put in this project. It is not finished, but I hope it will help rally support.

Thank you,
joeman

Re: Potential Project. Need help.

Well, if you want to try making it yourself, I could suggest trying either "Game Maker" or a ClickTeam product ("The Games Factory" or "Multimedia Fusion").
Those are a option as the game sounds fairly simple.

About the programs, the ClickTeam products are simple drag-drop-click programs, the games "programmed" by making "events" to "frames".
The Game Maker on the other hand is a little more flexible with it's scripting capability.

Of course if you're interested in actually learning a language to write in, I could suggest BlitzBasic which is a language made for making games, and fairly easy to learn.

I can actually program in a few languages, but I'm too lazy to actually do anything productive, sorry.

You know what as a gamer I can truly dig that plot and that set up. He have everything on this site from bankers to muscians. I'm sure there is a programer somewhere to be found.

Alas, I am but a fledgling, taking My Bachelor of Computer Science next year. Hopefully you can find someone before I've learned enough to help you. =(

Re: Potential Project. Need help.

have you tried game maker 7? it's supposedly really good software for making games. it is only for pc right now, but they are releasing a mac version fairly soon. there is also games factory, or multimedia fusion, a more advanced version of the aforementioned program. there is also power game factory for the mac, but that only deals with side scrollers. game maker 7 would really be the way to go. the basic version is free, and you can upgrade for something like $25. i'd offer to help, but i am just as clueless when it come to these things. you might want to look for tutorials on making hd sprites, too. ok, enough blather from me. i hope that this proves helpful. good luck!

If you decide to go the I-raf-U route, you should get Ren'py, which is a visual novel game maker.
