Interesting. I haven't played Soul Calibur IV yet. I was aware of Ivy's notorious new proportions, but if all the girls went through a similar expansion, I really need to get my hands on this game.

I don't see a problem. The developers are just catering to their demographics. Many fighting games are like that (jiggle physics included). DOA is no exception either. It's either this or gushing blood like a fountain for this game genre.

Now let's see Ivy's size progression from large, to huge, to whoppers

That game is KING. It's my favorite fighting game series, especially the newest one on PS3 and 360. Sad it didn't have online play for the PS3, though.

Quite so. I think from Soul Edge all the way to current SC series(I've only played Soul Edge and SC 3), but from what I vaguely remember from the story mode is this.
She recieved from Zeus the armor and weapon and she was charged to destroy Soul Edge.
(I'm probably mistaken, don't quite remember the details)
But I believe in the end after she succeeded, she settled down.(she even had kids?)

And I think in SC 3 it was her sister or something I played with because it was a girl with about the same attire as Sophitia but different.
So maybe she just matured naturaly.
But it's just like spongebath said: "The developers are just catering to their demographics. "

Sophitia, being pure (a virgin), was charged by Hapheastus, god of the forge, to seek out and destroy Soul Edge, a corrupt and evil sword. Other gods (Aeries) also had a hand in its fate.

In her storyline, if you win with her, she settles down and gets married, and no longer feels the divinity of the gods. 9 months later, she has twins.

When the shards of Soul Edge still manage to cause problems, her younger sister Cassandra steps up to the role to save the family (hence the new character that looks and fights like her, but isn't her).

In SC4 in particular, Sophita's kids are held ransom, and she's forced to fight for the bad guys to protect them.

As far as BE goes... there's BE, and then there's changing character design for the sole purpose of sales / fan service. As much as I like BE (why else would I be here?), I have to agree that SC's ... evolution is disappointing. It's not like there's a REASON all the women increased bust sizes between each game, other than to drive sales. If they had worked in some storyline reason, I'd be more inclined to let it slide, but then I don't think it would have gone over well with the ESRB...
