I ran into that same problem with my last story. I typically held off on numbers or allowed her to estimate until she actually had a means to measure herself.

Occasionally, however, the narrator would clue us in.

I think you guys have a point. I'll loosen up these restrictions on myself for my next story.

I agree with Kuenbu. I really like to see numbers when I'm reading a story, at least until the girl is around eight feet. After that it starts to feel silly and artificial. I don't know about you guys, but after years of obsessing about female height, I am pretty accurate at pinpointing an exact number on a normal sized woman without needing a tape measure.
