That's always been my take on complete mental changes. Why not just kill off the character if you're going to do something as drastic as that?
Hopefully it's just ends up with Ji-Hoon becoming girlier without realizing it, kind of like Hazumu from Kashimashi.

What? Hazumu was never masculine even when he was male...I mean that story is interesting but he's already a girl before the change I swear. He just got the right equipment afterwords to make it even more official...
