Yeah, I really can't be arsed to go through all those links. Main question- will it be RP style writing, predetermined writing or art?

The point in your story is to get us (the judges) interested in your characters and story, if your story is more interesting than your opponent's than you win, but you have to keep in mind that you must at least keep one part of your opponent's character's personality the same. I mean you can probably change make them the opposite of who they were, as in if the opponent's character is nice, you can make them evil or some extent of that, I've seen a character managed to get away with that by making them a little off from their usual behavior and his story won against several of the other characters because his story was more witty and funny compared to the others. Pretty much his story was much more funny and than the stories of the characters that he went against. Though that same person lost against the other guy because his story was much more interesting and compelling than his and I guess some of the judges were a little bit fans of him, but they still trouble deciding who should win. Anyway, the tournament here in process is based on your design of your character (personalities/powers/etc), your interpretation of the use of the setting given by the tournament organizer and your opponent, and basically your process. I can't explain even further right now as I need some sleep and I'm sick at the moment, my coughs hurts me and I'm really, really, cold. Tomorrow, I'll show you guys an example of how the tournament at the process should work. Right now, I'll get some much needed sleep. Edit: Oh and another thing to say is to think of it as a fighting video game (probably not much of an example to non video game players) for your characters and you make a story about how your character beats the other's and what do they do when they win it. Tomorrow is example day, as I'll explain and make somewhat of a template for you as to how your tourney should, if choose too, start if you want to make one specific for a ceratin TF. Re: Hey Let's Do An Original Character Tournament, Process Style
Okay here's an example of how the original character tournament works. I'll be using Sins-Of-Angels's tournament as a base for that example. This is kindo of the way I wanted to set up that tournament Here it goes:
Example Tournament Background/Info Backstory (make a reason as to why these tournamnet-organizer characters want to make a tournament): One time there was a powerful trickster-like wizard who has a really fun hobby of changing people, most particularly women, into many things. From animals to freaks of nature that is stuck in between and is neither a man nor animal, from making them smaller than a salt shaker to to be as tall as a mountain, increasing their sizes in particular "areas" and sometimes the wrong ones, and even more changes that can't be described in similes like those are. Basically in his life of transforming people he's beginning to run out of people to change and he thought he was going to be left with nothing to change anymore, but lucky for him he managed to finish his personal project fast enough. This project he was working on was using some type of crystalized energy that he found one day on one of his skirmishes and used it to make some dimensional portal so he could start taking his transformational progress across other worlds. But during his first trip to other words, he first ran into an alternate dimension where he met himself and the only thing unlike him is that he has knowledge of other worlds where he found out that there are others, not just different versions of him, but others that transform others through other means and uses. The alternate wizard couldn't travel to other dimensions but he can watch other people who transform people in very different ways and since he met the normal wizard, they both concluded that they could probably go to different worlds and even maybe bring other people to travel through dimensions when they work together. All of these other people have different methods transformations and they were good, but which one is the best out of all them. Then this gives the normal wizard a brilliant idea, he and the alternate wizard decided to hold a tournament between these people to see who really is the best and would probably partnered up with them as well. But the wizard told his alternate self that they might not be the type of people who would want to be partners and may turn away many of the competitors that they would want. After some thought both wizards would hand out their prizes to the winner by one of these choices: A wealth beyond their wildest dreams, be given even more power than they could hope to imagine, give them an entire dimension for them to rule over, become their partner, or challenge one of the wizards themselves to win the cliche mystery prize (unfortunately for them they haven't figure out what kind of prize should they give them hence the mystery and the chance for the contestant to make that up if they choose too). With that decided the wizards got ready to make their preparations to get their competitors, but unknown to them, the crystalized energy that gave them their ability grew a mysterious glow. [It's optional whether or not you can make a mysterious cliff hanger at the end of the story, if you want the contestants to use this bit to make their story interesting.] Process (How did your characters get here or how they audition to participate and rules of how they win or lose a fight): Your character will be sent to the wizards by a specific crystal they made sent out to the contestants. When they agree to answer that's when they are sent to meet them, however there maybe something wrong to the crystal, like for example they were pulled there by force and had no chance to agree it too, they could be hold off by another who wants to send somebody else to do it, or if they're grabbed by the wrong kind of person who had no desire to take part in the tournament in the first place. Basically you can come up with any particular way of how your characters got their in the first place through your audition submission to the story, but since this is an example and we don't really have that much people I think it'll probably be accepted anyway. Though what I meant by audition story, well it's basically how you enter the tournament since we are looking for a good story and it would be a nice introduction to your character and what kind of TF powers they should do. Anyway, back to the importance of the crystals, these jewels are their way to get their exact pinpoint of your character's location (if not they'll probably have to "Megaman" their way to find you) of the particular dimension your character will be sent to have their match with the others. The crystals are also a way to help out your character by concealing themselves from their current opponent so they can't go directly after them; however, if your character's conceal-ment is the basically turning into a human, animal, or thing to hide from their victims and his opponent than his opponents will be alerted that they're hiding, though the good news is that they still have to find your character normally it's just that the bad news is that they know your character is hiding as one of the planet's inhabitants. So you may have to becareful of that as some of your opponent's writers can maybe use this to their advantage in some way. But I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, I'll explain more about the crystals. Another importance to them is that they'll help you keep track on how many victims that your character (and your opponent too sometimes, but they flicker on and off at random times, but it won't show the importants at all if they're broken) has TF'd. Which of course, is one of the ways to win in the current round, you need to write/show how your character had gained the upperhand in transforming alot of people than your opponents. The only thing I can give you is to make this part of the victory interesting like with everything else on how you win. Also when the opponent lost his match against your character he will be teleported back into his world (maybe, if you want to write it like that) by having the crystal coming out of their body or leaving their possession which is keeping them tethered to the world both of your characters are fighting in. One more thing about trying to beat your opponent that way is that in each match, is that both of your character's are given about a week or 2 in each round, just so if your character is the type of TFer that likes slow transformations happening to the victim. Also, if it's supposed to take longer than 2 weeks don't worry, the wizards have boost up the speeding process of that type of TFs so that it will end faster, how fast is up to you. Another way to win is basically have your character beat your opponent's character down in a fight, but if they don't TF at least one person, they'll forfeit their crystal instead since the wizards really want to see how your character's method of TFing works and differs from their own. But to win that way you need to give a reason why your character chose to fight his opponent rather than changing a bunch of people or him. Is it because all they really wanted to do is to make a fight so they'll use up the other guy's time to change the victims before time runs out, actually giving him more time so he can transform more victims, or is he the type of character that doesn't really want to transform people and would rather fight his opponent instead or is something else? Basically you must make an original story as to why they would take that option as well, but it will be very hard to do, as long as you make a descriptive TF or a pretty good one you may succeed in having your character win that way. However you can't have your character power housing your opponents (or the other way around it may turn away the other judges), it'll just make it boring despite having a good TF and may come across your character as a Gary Stu of some sorts if they won by strength alone. Like every story you've got to make your character's fight interesting as well, but you must still be careful when using that method to win. When the opponent loses the match like that the crystal will be knocked out of them when they finally lose consciousness or "die" for some reason. Finally the last way to win is to transform your opponent into something as well. This type of TF is basically a very hard one to do as the character is transforming someone who is almost like them. Depending on their personality, it would be pretty bad if you have your opponent beg and scream if they're not normally like that, unless of course, they're changing into something they really don't like. That way would be hard to pull it off, but you can have your character win the match like that anyway with good story telling and a good TF(s). Then again it is your interpretation of the character, I'm just saying that it will be harder in the later matches (if there are in this kind of tournament) to twist their personality like that they have the judge advantage of happening to like your opponent's character a lot. Anyway back to the change at hand, when transforming your opponent, I think it might be best if you give them a good sequence (a short one if there's waaay too many through out this current round) to be TFed in if you have your opponent's character lose like that. When they lose in that method, the character will have their crystal remove from them the same way as if they were beaten down (as in coming out of the body for some reason, or spitting it out or in other methods). One more important rule to keep in mind is to use the settings that has been given to you for your advantage, as well as giving them some more "character" to make your readers/watchers even more interested in your character and your interpretation of your opponents and the setting of the wizards and/or the energized crystal. If your interpretation of the setting conflicts with your opponent's, then it's basically down which interepretation of the judges like best anyway, since this is what this tournament is all about and remember it's a story about how your character win his matches against the others like a video game and the kind of TFs that happened during the match. The crytstals gathered from your opponents can be used to power up your own characters in some way. How, you figure it out. Set and Important Rules (just rules of your tournament): For the characters= 1. You must make a profile of your character and their audition to enter the tournament. The profiles are needed so your opponent and those not in the tournament can get a short summary of who they are. 2. Since this is an original tournament I think fancharacters may not be accepted, but then again, since this is a battle of different dimensions and this is an example... 3. Your character can have a team come with him, as long as they're mostly for support and used as tools to help your main one. Like for example, they could be the ones used to transformed people into girls while the main one doesn't do it himself but uses them as an extension of his enemies. 4. Any method of transformation can be used in this tournament. For the battles/rounds (optional and/or before and after epilogues)= 1. Your character must win by having transformed the most people than your opponent in your designated area or planet. 2. Your character can win by beating his opponent down, but MUST TF at least one person to do so. 3. Your character can win by transforming your opponent. 4. Any HUGE Outside influence throughout the match is prohibited. What I meant by huge, I meant by your character somehow attracted the military or a HUGE army of spies to come after them. (This could be another way to win too) 5. Make your character's story interesting in this tournament and have fun. The prizes (this is what I got from the other character tournaments I've read): When you lose against your opponent, you owe him or her a commission of some sorts. How much effort you put into it depends on you though. But you don't owe everyone who wins a match a commission of some kind, only the one you lost against and the one who won the entire tourney you owe the commission too. But to make things less complicated here: 1. Your current's opponent promise to make you a drawing or story of some kind. 2. If you win it all, EVERYONE owes you a commission of some sort, but what kind of commission depends on them though. 3. If I was good enough you would win a very good commission from me, but no, just no. Only better artists/writers can do that. And that's basically what the Tourney information looks like. I would give you an example of what a profile and audition should look like almost, but I don't think you actually need it, but I'll do it anyway in the next post tomorrow. I need the sleep. |

Heh.... that was a lot to read but it sounds ok. I will most likely take the fighting approach of beating down the opponent :P.
