I HAVE played soccer and do like it much, just soccer is a much more forgiving sport so I don't really call it a MAN'S sport like REAL football, rugby (never played it but watched it), bull/horse riding (never done it but it looks intense), and wrestling (don't like it but it takes a guy to endure that pain). Short in short, soccer along with basketball, volleyball, baseball (though you need skill for this sport), NASCAR, water polo, ect. are what we call pussy sports.

(P.S. I both love soccer and basketball and am not trying to offend anyone, just those sports aren't in the same caliber as the other sports.
I think Real football is much more fun than American football, and it takes more determination and skill to play well. In football you have to figure the angle the ball is going to rebound off when you head it, know when to foul someone and who to foul if you are on defense so that people flench when you run up to them. I have sustained far worse injuries in soccer than I have in any other sport (discounting when I busted my head open playing Tag). It is the only sport in the Olympics that I have seen someone loose an ear playing. It is a noncontact sport not a non-violent sport. Furthermore in football unlike American football, all the players have to be able to think on their feet. In american football only one person has to think and their is very little thinking on your feet. Besides American Football has very little to do with feet.

Back on topic:

Playing some free, internet version of a sporting activity is not only dumb, but a huge virus/hacker trap.

This is the point I was trying to make, but was too drunk to make sense.

Us Americans love being schizophrenic.

"This is football."
"But, they're not using their feet."
"Do not patronize me with your logic!"

Re: Play FREE football?

If u read up on your history gridiron football is called so because that is what the original rules supported more. Originally the field goal, which is when you kick the football, was 5 points and a touchdown was worth 2 points. So usage of the foot was originally more predominant than passing because the forward pass was illegal. So really football was focused around the use of the foot more-so than today where a touchdown is 6 points while a extra-point is 1 point and a field goal is worth 3 points. We just choose to stick to our roots and keep the traditional name football.

Re: Play FREE football?

Now that THAT is outta the way, football (whichever you choose) videogames and the real action of playing football is different but their should be no argument over either because the purpose of both are for completely different reasons. The reason most people like to play sport videogame themed games is because its convenient, it allows one to control somebody with a skill that they never could match, and lets admit it, it is much more tedious to schedule a game when everyone is free or not busy and they actually want to play. Its much easier to pop in a game and press start. Real football was created for the compeditiveness of people and the determination of its athletes. Also sports holds somewhat of a prestigiousness because of the reason that either not everyone has the ability to compete in it or the will. So people resort to videogames to feel that experience which you can never TRULY recreate but it does hold some value to have sport video games.

Re: Play FREE football?

Still doesn't address my counter points to your claim that soccer is a non violent sport.
