My point was that the visuals were what most linked it to fern gully to me.

I haven't been blown away by 3D/CGI since Final Fantasy Spirits Within.. after that, nothing seems surprisingly good anymore. I mean, it's gotten better, but nothing is miles ahead of the competition... or it's so realistic that it's no longer interesting to look at. =/

Re: Just got back from Avatar

I rarely get this excited over a movie. But, then again different people like different things. Like all those screaming Twilight fangirl- VAMPIRES DO NOT FUCKING SPARKLE!!!s talking about how amazing it is when the movie itself didn't impress in any way... ok, some of the music was very nice, but that's it. The acting sucked, the plot had more holes than one of Bush's speeches, and they fucked up centuries of Vampire folklore.

Re: Just got back from Avatar

I intend to see it for the third time tomorrow

I think that should say where I fall for whether I like the film or not

almost forgot, in the film it wasn't mentioned, but the "grey rock" is a super-conductive material, able to stabilize a matter-antimatter reaction, which is the only power source left to humanity, in order to keep their ships going, and getting people off the overpopulated rock called earth... (yep, birth control is still. a problem in the future)

as for the movie, well, Quaritch was an amazing bad guy, I was talking to a soldier who had seen avatar, and he said that colonel Quaritch was the kind of officer that soldiers dream of serving under... that he cares about the survival of his men, that he takes care of his own, he had his orders, and he followed through, I'm not saying I agree, but I am saying, that's Quatitch

Re: Just got back from Avatar

I think he was a little too gung-ho about killing everything, as if the act alone brought some sense of pride beyond service and duty.

Re: Just got back from Avatar

true, but as I said, I had been talking to a soldier, the man prefers a go getter to a sit around, heck, the colonel was on the front lines, albeit in a flying fortress

Re: Just got back from Avatar

True. Initiative is priceless, but so to is morallity. I can see how Quatich would have been a great officer, and a fine commander, however, I also see where he lacks humanity.

Still, I believe all the character were well played, and how each stood out as a separate entity from the cast as a whole. I really enjoyed the entire performance ^_^

Re: Just got back from Avatar

He was a fun guy to watch ^_^ I liked that Sigourney Weaver was in there. It's something I hadn't heard about (and I saw very few trailers), so when I saw her, I smiled. Of course for the next 20 minutes I kept thinking of it as Alien: Pandora. lol
