Re: Final Fantasy XIII

There are several points where it's better to pause the fight and hit retry just so you can re=spec out your team after a series of cut-scenes. Made my fight with Shiva much easier the second time through

On the subject of consoles: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/fo...ewattack/62941

On the subject of this tread: From the way the combat system was described in the GameTrailers review, it sounded like it would be a in interesting way for combat. Although, I favor Final Fantasy IX over all. "Hey! Need to learn a spell? Just hold onto this stick for a while "

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

I'm several hours in, leveled up a few roles with diff characters and all I can say is that this game is repetitive and linear. Granted, it can hold me for hours at a time, but I don't see myself holding onto this one after I beat it if they don't open the world up more.

Ah, but they do. LAter in the game you get many new shinys, like beign able to set your own party, and change hte party leader whenever you wish, and you get to stop the story for tons of sidequests if you want, not to mention the "after the end" segment, where you can save AFTER the credits role and continue playing. In fact that final level of hte Crystarium is only unlocked at that point.

Think of this earlier gameplay as the beginning of FFVII in which you had a long stint in Midgar followed by a very narrow walk through the world map until you had a means to get around.

The things that open up after the final boss have me interested, I assume there are side missions that can't be done until after you beat the game as well, is that correct?

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

There are. You can also save some side quest from earlier until after you have that final level in hte crystarium. Now, I'm not sure HOW extensive the after end stuff is, I jsut know it's there. I'll let you all know once I beat the game. I finished disc 1 yesterday so it shouldn't be too too long

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

Meh, I find that having multiple discs jsut aids in bringing back that old FF feel ^_^

Same issue I had with it. In chapter 3 they add more complexities to it though.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

the battle system is rather easy to learn but the combat itself can be a pain when you have to do the Paradigm shifts to start healing...
