Re: So sad: Phoebe Prince

Taking your own life is never the right option. Sometimes you just need to decide enough is enough and fight back! Of course I feel dreadfully sorry for the girl because like her I was "The New Kid". But I didn't give up! I lived through the bullying and eventually decided enough was enough and fought back. I won back a hell of a lot more than my self respect. Should The tormentors be charged for tormenting her? Yes, but that should have happened before this even got to this point. It shouldn't take a death to open people's eyes to the situation at hand. She needed someone to talk to, she should have been given time to visit the guidance councilor. The school shouldn't have let this get out of hand, but I can't see them taking responsibility for her death. It was her that made that decision.

I've felt the need to kill myself once....

I'm glad I removed myself from that situation before I made a terrible decision.

This...is just sad.
There's no other way to put it.
This is also why I make an effort to befriend anyone and everyone in my vicinity, or at least be a little nicer toward people in general.
No one deserves to be alone.

The circumstance may have been different, but I too faced this obstacle.
Only a chance (and completely unrelated) talk with a friend that afternoon kept me from going further.

Too lenient.
Escort them to the library and topple the bookshelves on them.
Start a fire as they try to climb out and set off an implosion and, just to be sure, simply cement the rubble into a nice, round mound of concrete.
I only hope they made copies of those documents....

Yes, this is overkill, I know, but you have to wonder a what point did this group ever begin to consider the possible consequences of their actions.
I cannot, but this is what I feel right now.

No, I will not make an illustration of the above scenario.

I only hope the guilty in this case, turn from hate to love, before they end up paying the price, that simply can not be paid.

Even without her parents contacting the faculty, I am sure they knew and did not care. These kinds of problems only grow. Without punishment, such actions only get imitated by others. Sounds like a lot of lousy adults in this area to me. Where I live, I never have seen that much bullying. Especially in high school were most of the people were generally more mature.

I did go through psychological torture all throughout my schooling, so this woman has my sympathies. The feelings of powerlessness against individuals who have no morals or ethics (what I would summarize as "evil") can be overwhelming at times. The repercussions of it affect me to this day.

Hell, I'm dealing with people like that even today.

That's rather horrifying. Tragically it's not like this is the first time something like this has happened--and it probably won't be the last, even if an example is made of these kids. It really is a terrible failure on the part of the authority figures not to step in before it got this bad, though.

I dont understand why they made her life so miserable just for being Irish...

...She's damned cute, then again I'm mostly Irish >.<

It's such a shame, these people deserve the full punishment that the law allows, and should be treated as if it were a homicide.

I feel ya, I was always the social outcast who wasn't in the popular groups. Even had one asshole try to break my door down when we got off the bus. Funny part to that is when my parents called the police about him, the cop actually ENCOURAGED me to kick his ass (mind you I'm bigger than most people, and built like like a freaking football player). I can't bring myself to do that though, I'm too much of a pacifist XD

High school (and much of elementary school to be honest) were hell for me, but I was ugly so it made some sense.

Poor poor girl. My condolences for her family. I've been in the same spot before and have considered suiside at different points in my life. It is just a shame that she followed through with these thoughts. The young should never have to face these problems.

I hope these kids can be punished legally. Bullying is kind of a hard thing to pin on someone. With some of the extreme cases such as this it is good that they are going with the harassment angle. But it is a shame this is happening to kids. What they were taught?....

Re: So sad: Phoebe Prince

All I have to say is my grandpa said that suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do. She should have found some help and if she couldn't refused to go to school. There always is another option, even if we cant see it.

I feel for this girl because I have been bullied relentlessly in the past. And for the most part it feels like your trapped and there is nowhere you can go. Finding somebody or something to talk to (a friend, relative, journal) can really help. All you have to do is find something to release your anger and hurt. This girl chose the easy way out instead of fighting through it and finding a better solution. Now her family and friends will be haunted by her memory for the rest of their lives. I really wish she could have gotten some help. A damn sham.

Its just plain FUBAR.

First, before I start, this is terrible. I despise rape more than anything, so that charge had better stick.

Now, than.

Remember, liveordie83, when you said in another thread that you wanted the photographer dead because he took propaganda photo's? Are you saying that he shouldn't have killed himself, and being shot would have been better? Are you saying that the girl should have been shot instead of hanging herself?

Ah, whatever, a hypocrite is always a hypocrite.

Anyway, carry on with being sad.
