About that whole "Unlurk only to make a request" thing, I've only seen three cases of such activity, and never for me.
I've never really noticed people poping out of the shadows and requesting pieces.
Then again, I've taken to not post my artwork on forums out of sheer laziness. And most people don't take to my art styling.

Don't worry, I never get those people either. I hardly get any requests from people. And by hardly, I mean just about never.

I never really got requests even when I was producing art way back when. I kinda liked it for a while. It gave me the freedom to do what I wanted without having to worry about pleasing "teh masses." But, after a while, it kinda gave me a hollow feeling inside, like no one really cared (and they probably didn't). I think at that moment is when I just stopped drawing expansion stuff altogether. I'm still not sure if I'll ever pick it up again.

Ah yes, such recognition is indeed a mixed blessing... While I cannot speak from experience, I would try not to think of people as "requesting", which subtly implies some kind of obligation (and thus stress), but rather think of them as "suggesting ideas for you next work, whenever that happens to be". If you happen to want to depict someone's "idea", then you can go ahead and do that. Use words like suggestion, idea, thought, etc., while completely avoiding the nasty R-word.

What I'm thinking is that as long as you never do a request, people will think that you just don't do them, and they won't bother trying to make requests.

and wath sutibaru says is also true, well they say everithing in excess is bad ^^

will try to use more dinamic lines you know, but I find hard to use them ani one knows of a good tutorial about them???
