Yeah, I think it could do well without it, maybe it could fund you paying someone to illustrate it and then sell it at a premium price point, like 3 to 5 bucks. Yeah these things are tough to decide lol.

Re: The Office (Version 2)

I don't normally post much, but as a business major, I feel obligated to offer some input. The thing to do would be to get an estimate on what it would cost to have it illustrated (to whatever degree you please); then based off of that you gauge the interest from the community. After that you should be able to determine what would be an appropriate cost. I'd agree with splinterfox though, $3-$5 sounds pretty accurate, possibly a little more depending on the illustration cost.

Re: The Office (Version 2)

Woooo! I'm done with the first draft! 22 chapters and about roughly 45,000 words. I think y'all will appreciate some of the later transformations :-)

Now I go through and clean it up. I have two other major characters and some good action scenes later as well.

Oh, and I'he got several artists doing sample illustrations for me and one even showed me a rough sketch. Its good :-)

First story I ever wrote and it just kind of flowed out. Its funny, I noticed my writing getting a little more confident later.

So, novella sized. I think I will release the plain text for cheap and a later illustrated version for a little bit more. I'm shooting for about 20 illustrations at the moment.

Woo!

Re: The Office (Version 2)

Thanks. The illustrator is fantastic and he's got 8 of 28 illustrations done already. I've tweaked the story itself and I'm up to 52,000 words. I think I'm finally done with it so now I'm just working with the illustrator on the scenes. It moves fast and has some great action and .... other.... stuff

Re: The Office (Version 2)

Speaking of that... does anyone know what Barnes and Noble or Amazon's policy is in regards to something like this? It's pretty graphic as far as descriptions go and illustrated.

Are there other options for easy publishing of something like this?

Re: The Office (Version 2)

Umm Amazon should be fine with normal text books. I'm not sure with the illustrations though, but I see erotic illustrated comics all the time, but I'm not sure of the hoops you have to jump through, best thing to do would to read amazons terms of service and contact someone. Though you should be fine. But currently if you want your story on kindle it cannot have images other than a cover. So I'm not sure on how you would distribute your illustrated novel. If you would have a downloadable .exe of sorts or something?

Try Lulu.com, JollyJack uses it a lot with his more naughty works and to avoid any paypal suspicions. Best of lucks with your project, seems hugely great!!

Re: The Office (Version 2)

I'll check out Lulu - thanks! (Update) - Just checked. Holy cow! Lulu takes nearly 50% of the profits! That's insane.

Here's a part from one of the scenes just to get an idea of what the art is like

The artist is finishing up illustrations 16 & 17 already so we're moving right along!
