Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
Doubt funding had anything to do with fullmetal really. They went through the anime an episode every week eventually it catches up with the manga and then either you put the series on hold, make up tons fillers (Naruto). In a way when it comes to the first series of FMA they pulled it off extremely well. Bringing it to a full circle when the manga was nearing its completion by redoing it with Fullmetal Brotherhood was simply good sense.
Long time fans would be on board and new potential fans could be lured into the greatness that is FMA.

I don't think they've done too much original content, actually. Maybe an episode or two with some alterations here and there, but the main plotline is essentially the same.

Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
I meant the non volumes 1 and 2 material that did make it into the first season. Shuffling the timeline of events, bringing in Kaede before the manga. All of these are 'unfaithful' changes, don't get me wrong some changes are unavoidable when changing mediums. But the changes that were made, makes it difficult to follow the events in the manga when you want to know whats going on.

Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
Meh...color me disappointed with how this seems to be going. I think I've been able to piece things together through reading the manga's 6 volumes and I'm not crazy how they've condensed so much into the 12 episodes.
I admit I'm mostly watching it for the BE and boobs, so the story seems so nonsensical it needs the goofy moments or else its kind of a bore. The anime seems to have taken out some of the lighter moments early on from the manga and more BE for Chifusa and they didn't go totally absurd and comical with her massive BE from volume 3 of the manga. And unless they deviate a bunch in the anime, Chifusa almost becomes more of a background character in volume 4,5 and 6 and the whole thing gets more serious and the BE (or at least big, noticeable BE) is pretty much non existent. So should the show come back with more episodes and follow volumes 5 and 6, that'll be pretty boring IMO- at least from a BE/ boob perspective. Just feels like a bit of a bait and switch when the manga and anime draw you in with the boobs and BE but then it switches tone and focus so much into trying to make a pretty silly concept into something serious. Meh. Anyway, at least it seems like the Blu Ray has a short where Chifusa looks pretty massive: ![]() Edit: Whoa, sorry for the massive image. I have no clue what I'm doing ![]() Think its coming out October 4th- at least I think thats what the show's site said. |

Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
There's not much to say really. It's needs to get serious at some point to actually get the story across somewhat especially if they are planning to put some sort of ending to it at episode 12. So all the BE and such has to take a back seat. That's not to say there isn't going to be alot of regular fanservice though.
Then again I have been baited by boobies and such in the past and have been pleased by some stories but also disappointed.

Ohh, there's a short in the BD? Is anyone gonna rip that and put it up somewhere? Cause I'd love to see it.

Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
Looks like its about $85 on Japan's amazon site
But I think thats only episodes 1-3, and then they'll have a Volume 2 come out in the beginning of November with episodes 4-6, volume 3 in early December with 7-9 and volume 4 in early January with 10-12. |

Re: Manyu Hikencho - Decision of making TV animation
Ugh bait and switch... if this keeps up I wouldn't mind if they didn't get renewed for another season.
I came for the boobs and thats it. Not another plot full of anime-cliche's.
