Sow how many of you have a "Secret Identity" that you keep separate from your BE...

Warning: This turned out to be a long post. I'll make a TL;DR at the bottom.

I'm curious how many people have a "Secret Identity" that they keep separate from the Expansion Fetish part of their life. The reason I thought of this is really myself. I was thinking the other day about asking someone if they play DCUO for the PS3, and then realized that I couldn't ask them for their PSN without revealing mine.

I know that everyone looks at some type of porn. Once you hit that age it's either in your mind or on your screen, but everyone does it. But I guess I've always been shy about just WHAT type of stuff I'm in. It's nothing major, this forum says it all. I'm into women with breasts getting bigger.

I've always been afraid, though of other people finding out. My brother is a good example. He's a dick, always has been. But I made the mistake of letting him know what I like, and he rides me about it. Now, he's kinda screwed up himself so he keeps it a secret, but he's also the type that would use that against me if he wanted to. Course I got stuff on him so we have some MAD going on, but that's another story.

Anyway, for the most part I keep myself hidden behind my digital mask and do my best to keep my two lives separate. I don't want anyone finding out unless I want them to. I went as far as to lie to someone that found out once several times over, even though he had my IM. I eventually ended up shelving that IM just to avoid anyone else making the connection.

I chose my name as Laughingmann because of Ghost in the Shell. The two N's are because I was stupid enough to choose LaughingMan from Ghost in the shell. But anyway, I picked him because I liked the anonymity he represented in the show, how he could be almost anyone and even had copycats. I stick by that, too. I add as many "N's" as is needed, but I try to stay the same on each BE board I come across. We're a smaller community than people would think, and so names tend to be important.

It started out as just a name to post under, but I've come to enjoy being under this name, being known to the community and yet being unknown. So I guess that was the entire point of this whole little thread. Who keeps themselves a secret from others, who is open about their expansion fetishes with their friends, and who dabbles a bit in both? I wonder that sometimes. I wonder who else out there is like me and considers it a separate part of their life, almost a separate life, and who just feels like people can get over it.

Anyway, that's it. I didn't intend for this post to become so huge. I guess it got me thinking as I was typing it, and that's usually a bad thing, lol. I tend to be overly wordy, but yeah feel free to share if you want. This thread just kinda became pointless, but I still find it interesting. What makes people want to hide it, what makes others fine with showing it? It's all fascinating. And now, for the TL;DR.

TL;DR version: Do you have a separate "identity" online or otherwise for your Expansion Fetish "life?"

Absolutely; The name I use here I no longer use anywhere else any more, ever since it morphed into my... well... expansion name. It's great, because it's so generic that I've seen this name in sites all over (so declares Google search), with only two of the others being me, and one's my DeviantArt. The other I've invested too much time in and had for years now, so I can't just remove myself from that one.

I've since taken up a different universal name.

Yeah, you're right. Blind people don't look at porn. Though I'm sure they have audio and Braille stuff.

I use to but not anymore :P. That name is just a character of mine now ^_^. I eventually found it pointless to hide those things.

As interesting as the point is, shouldn't this thread be in General, since it's just a discussion and not strictly BE-related?

Mre germane to the topic, it's kind of funny to ask that question when you think about it, because anyone who actually had a secret identity wouldn't reveal it as such- They'd maintain their secret identity as their real one. :P

This is more of a "General Discussion" kind of deal, but I'll give my .02 USD.

I initially kept it kind of under wraps, but as I matured, I realized that humanity has more pressing concerns than one lonely computer nerd's fetishes and judging a man by what makes his dick hard is a rather idiotic mentality. So if anyone starts griping about me regarding such insignificant details, they'll get socked in the face by profound wisdom.

Muhz, I do have to wonder how much that's influenced by how many people care about us in our regular lives enough to care about our private ones. Imagine if one of us was a celebrity or a politician? How disastrous would it be to find out your favorite TV host contributes to FurAffinity or something?

Not worth the effort to be honest. If I was famous or had more money than God, then I might take the time to be concerned, but truthfully, it's a waste of time and effort.
