Expansioncomics = rip off

I guess I was nice enough to get myself rip off.

I bought expansioncomics access for about 2 days... and then, no more access to website.

No answering from the website staff.
No answer from CCBill.
And losing already more than 2 weeks worth of my money.

I guess it's like I lost my bucks forever.
Too bad for them, but then, I guess I'll have to sue them. For real, not to scare them.

For those who can't afford 2 subscriptions at the same time, go to some other sites.

If you really ARE going to sue them, I'd suggest you get word around, the community would easily want to make it a class action, if they could. They've had it a long time coming, if I'm remembering who owns them.

I've heard this story enough it might be worth advertising about, to really rally all the disappointed customers so it doesn't just seem like a lone screwball.

Um, why wouldn't CCBill talk to you? They're the crowd that process the credit card transaction. Also, have you gone to Expansion Mansion's forums to post about it? Are you also aware that it *is* Christmas week and that Expansion Mansion/Comics/ are run by only a small number of people out of their own homes, not a large company with people constantly monitoring phones and e-mail? Did you enter in your login details wrong a number of times, as you get blocked from the server for doing so (which you are warned about multiple times on the site)?

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

I had a problem once. No answer from Expansioncomics staff, but my problem got solved once I contacted CCBill.

I don't post on the forum. I sent 3 notices through their mailing system.

I don't care if they are a small company. We're paying for a service, so we want to get the service. It isn't my problem if they have problems. Does your boss take your personal problems into account ? Do the clients care ? NO. So same apply to them.

I didn't enter my login details wrong even once.

Send me notes, for those who want to take justice action. I'll gather them, and will post them on their forum and through their mailing system. If no answer, it's a lawsuit to them.

EDIT : Subscription cancelled. But still, it doesn't make my money back. >.>

Asking a question about the site or the site's progress there is a sure fire way to receive a ban, or certain douc....members there throw a hissy fit.

I had similar issues back a few years ago with them as well. Also I thought most of us figured out the site wasn't worth the time/effort/money back in like 2007/2008?

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

I'm sure that it is nothing malicious on their part. I would liken it to you go to a small local toy shop and buy a toy for your kid for christmas. After getting it home, something on the toy breaks and you want to return or exchange it, but when you get to the store there is a sign up that says, "Closed until January 2nd".

You don't turn around and sue them just because they aren't around to answer and do an exchange. You just have to wait to get the toy replaced, or go buy it from a larger toy store that soullessly makes it's employees work over the holidays for insanely long hours.

It has been about half a day since your original post, so these things may just take some time. It is unfortunate that you are not able to access their website, but seriously, it's only like $20 you are out. I would say calm down before throwing lawsuits all up in the air. Let them officially answer you, because that is what the court will tell you to do regardless. There are a lot of legitimate reasons that you may not be able to access the website that may have nothing to do with the individuals who run it. Cause seriously, are you going to sue over $20? They'll probably be more then willing to credit you with a free month or something. And if they don't, you'd have to take them to small claims court, where the judge will most likely chuckle over the whole thing and award you like 17 or so bucks (pro-rated since you did have access for two days).

Just saying.

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

More than 2 weeks, SeekerSean. 3 notices. No answer. Not even an automatic message saying "we're out of business".

Only 20$ ? No, more. And even if it is "only" 20$, then, how about you give me that money, since it's THAT little for you.

Court will say nothing. It's business lawsuit, it doesn't require agreement.
And if we are several, believe me, the court won't look down.

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

So you payed 20 bucks for 2 days of content? I see 20 bucks for a month's worth of content and nothing lower so im pretty sure that it is too soon to go into a lawsuit panic over 20 bucks and it being a small company run by a hand full of people I doubt they would have much money to sue for.

You have 2 weeks left, if things don't fix itself before the next billing payment then I think it's "Sort of" ok to go into lawsuit mode over 40 bucks taken.

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

I'm not belittling the amount paid, I'm just saying that going straight to lawsuit over $20 is a little over-reaction. Legally speaking, the only thing that will come out of you suing them is you'll get your $20 bucks back. They judge can only give you the money you are out, and even then, as I said before, they will pro-rate it for the amount of time that you were given access.

Though the far more likely scenario (if they are smart) is that if you actually take them to court they will simply tell the judge that they would have credited you for the time you were unable to access the site and that you simply jumped to litigation before they had a chance to rectify the situation.

You have to wait for their response, or wait what would be considered an unreasonable amount of time for response. 2 weeks is not unreasonable yet. And you already cancelled your account, which was a bad idea. Cause now they can say that there is nothing they can do to help you since you already cancelled your account.

Basically, I would just eat the 20 bucks and walk away a wiser man for the experience, rather then begin to fly the flag of litigation just because you feel you were wronged.

Just my thoughts.

Re: Expansioncomics = rip off

You know, I've been a mod over at the Expansion Mansion forums for several years now. People don't get banned for asking about the Expansion Comics/BDSM Expansion Comics. The only time I've seen people get time out banned over posting a complaint about one of the sister sites is when they can't be bothered to be civil about it. You may not have access to the members area- it's understandable that you may be annoyed, there's no need to vent on other people unrelated to it. The EM staff (with the exception of a few admins) have nothing to do with the sister sites so people creating posts that are essentially flamebait that insult staff will be dealt with as such. However, the poster's issue has always been dealt with- regardless of their conduct on the EM forum.

Are you attempting to connect to the site through a proxy? Several proxy servers were banned/blacklisted due to hacker attacks. If so, try a different proxy or connect directly.

I'd also like to remind people that several members here are also members of the EM forums, so for your own sake I'd advise you not to call them douchebags. Every forum has an element that likes to post wild flaming statements. Try posting a request in one of the forums here outside of the dedicated request threads and you'll see how many people here feel the need to complain about it. We've a few members at the EM forums that like to try insulting other people too over posts. Like Lorekeep and his helpers do here, we actively moderate and keep people in line over at EM, then outright ban them if they can't bring themselves to follow the rules.

By the way, I've already posted the link to the thread on the staff forums at EM for you. You should get a reply back whenever one of the admins is available. Please bear in mind that this issue taking place just days before Christmas, and that since Expansion Comics is essentially a cottage industry there isn't people paid to sit in front of a computer monitoring e-mail 24/7. A lot of the staff have other jobs and are travelling to be with friends and family for the holidays. I can't speak for Lorekeep here, but I also doubt he's able to sit and wait in front of his computer for possible issues with his storefront either, or pay people to do that 24/7 for him. Please be patient, and they'll process your complaint as soon as they can. Knowing the guys running the behind the scenes bits, the second they see your e-mail they'll drop everything else to ensure your problem is fixed ASAP.
