Re: possible new BE
This reminds me of the Jolly Jack comic Fairy study

Re: possible new BE
"Isabella Rossellini, the famous Italian actress, filmmaker, author, philanthropist, and model," is now protecting the world as Ironwoman...oh no wait :P.
Seriously, I know I can be undercultured, but I've never heard of her. Still the thought of a woman being given the same hormones that affect chickens and all that...that was kind of hot for a ten second BE clip. There's a really awesome story in there somewhere. |

Re: possible new BE
I'm guessing that this excerpt relates to battery hens. Not a bad BE in itself, I thought.
I've heard of her, but then I live outside the U.S. |

Re: possible new BE
Please don't take Laughingman as representative of everyone in the U.S. Even aside from the fact that the BE clip came from a show that aired in the U.S. (albeit on the little-watched Planet Green cable channel), many Americans would know her because she's been in a number of American movies ("Blue Velvet" is the first one that comes to my mind) and used to be a fairly frequent guest on David Letterman's talk show.

I was wondering if this was some PETA nonsense... guess not. Hah, imagine PETA, creating fetish content.

So I don't know someone that's famous and I'm suddenly the typical ignorant American that is shunned in the corner during the "we're really not like this, rest of the world!" conversations? I don't know famous people that are from the US. I've never heard of her. I've never seen "Death Becomes her" and even then unless I enjoyed the movie I probably wouldn't know who she was because I wouldn't have scoured the IMDB page. I'm a nerd that likes action movies, comic books, video games, and boobs, so you'll just have to forgive me if I don't know who she is. I thought the Kardashians were the enemies of Starfleet up until about a month ago. Now I know who they are and I haven't the slightest idea why anyone cares. So I guess in that right, yes I'm not like most of America. I care more about the people in my life than about some famous stranger that I may never even meet. And I'm sorry if I'm going off on you...I'm not normally like this but I think that something about the way it seemed like you jumped at the chance to get on the "I'm a cultured American!" bandwagon that set me off. It was like when you see a character in the movies that immediately calls his friends nerds so that he can get in with the popular group. I dunno, I couldn't come up with a good analogy but I think you know what I mean. It just seemed like you jumped on the chance to make me out as the "stupid redneck" in order to earn brownie points with the "more civilized countries." I dunno, I'm tired. I've always considered myself at least somewhat above the stereotypical "clueless American" so maybe being called one for not knowing someone just hit a nerve. I dunno, you should probably just ignore all of this and the next day I'll feel bad for it...but yeah, I guess..."don't make me your stepping stool," is basically what I'm going for? I dunno, I'm just pissed. Like I said, I'll probably regret this later. |
