![]() I think part of the problem is that people might be too tolerant of bad effects. Maybe it's due to that that we never see good effects in female TF anymore. I know that some people can get pretty creative within a small budget and produce something decent, but the overwhelming majority of the content is pretty underwhelming in it's presentation. Female TFs are few and far between, I know. But when something comes along and it happens to look like it took 5 minutes to set up and no more than $20 to make and people say "Well it was a female TF, that's good enough for me" that's telling the world that in fact it is good enough. That they don't need to try any harder than that to please the fan base. So we don't get a gradual improvement in the quality of the TFs in the future because we've set the bar so low. Not just with the rare TV appearance of female TF, but even more to the point the fetish videos that pop up on various sites. I don't want to name names, but some videos have been produced that contain absolutely no transformation while being sold at transformation fetish sites. When people buy those and claim it's good enough that sets a bad standard and starts a trend towards lower and lower quality work being produced. Because if they can charge $10 for something with $0 in special effects, and people still buy it, what's to encourage them to put forth any more effort than that? Sorry for the rant. ![]() And about that "bad TF" thing, I can mention some places at clips4sale with really awful videos of pretending-to-be transformations. Personally, I am not sure if I prefer to have some bad quality stuff from time to time, or wait for the "big ones" once every two or three years, but you're right with the quality issues concerning the amateurish videos out there. |

Re: Possible minor transformations in Teen Wolf Season 2.
just because good effects are few and far between doesn't mean they can't be done. Darkshadows had some decent effects, though they where CG/Make Up hybrid.
I also believe for viewers, TF fans inparticular, expectations of what an effect SHOULD look like are often unrealistic or the design chosen is not to their liking so no matter how good the effect looks it isn't "correct". The assumption is if the creature doesn't look "right" then the effect is bad. Last edited by Xanderfox; 05-12-2012 at 07:12 AM. |

I'm well aware that they can be done. "Few and far between" just means that they're rare, it doesn't imply that they're impossible by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm not sure if anyone else is keeping tabs on Teen Wolf, but there was some very minor process in last night's episode. This was the introduction of the "Erica" character. The process only involved some fang growth with additional fingernail prosthetics. It's not much, but hopefully it's just a start. I've included a couple of screen shots and you can check out the episode here:

Right, don't expect much more than this. This season they have become even cheaper, and the Alpha has just shown fangs and claws. Maybe this is the new era of the Lamewolves.

There is that Lizard-looking Shapeshifter thing that we've only seen quick glances of. They may have blown their CG budget on that...

There was process of Jackson turning into the Kanima in the last two episodes. It was actually pretty nice.
This is his final form. |

If there's a topic with some male content, should that be split off into a new (albeit identically-titled) thread in "And Everything Else"?

From what I understand, devoting a topic to a male transformation in this forum is banned. But briefly noting a male transformation in a female-Tf thread is not. If it were, many other posts on this forum would be banned.
