Anyone else remember this cartoon from the 90s?

I remember watching this cartoon from 1996 called Kassai & Luek. The series takes place in Africa, where Kassai was found in the bush when he was just a baby. He was raised by lions, and then adopted by Bintou, who takes him back to her village. The people of Bintou's village have had a spell cast upon them by the Evil God Togoum. Kassai has been chosen to free his people from this curse. To achieve this, he must reconstitute the statue of Koorie, Goddess of Earth, whose pieces have been scattered across the continent. For every mission, Kassai must leave his village to find one magical missing piece and bring it back to Koorie. This exciting journey of treasure hunts pits Kassai against untold dangers: hostile tribes, wild animals and, above all, Togoum's traps. Fortunately, Kassai is not alone for this great adventure: Leuk, a comical rabbit, and Marana, a beautiful princess who is cursed to transform into a gazelle by day and back to normal by night.

I know. I have been trying to find this serries for almost... 10 years now online. There were a lot of tfs in the serries including Marana. In the last episode, a lot of the main characters were turned into wooden statues.

Ok first, what country are you from? What country you grew up in will help others try to figure out what stations showed this show.

Ahh this explains why it sounds like nothing I have ever seen, most of Teletoon's original shows either never came to the US or came years after they aired . ok ya Canucks go, search, look, find!

I also remember this on Teletoon. I don't think I ever followed the series, but I might have seen a few episodes as a kid.

Re: Anyone else remember this cartoon from the 90s?

I remember watching bits and pieces of this show on Teletoon back in the day, when nothing else was on (This was several years before I developed any interest in TF). I also remember that it had a crappy yet catchy intro.

I've just done a search for it. Apparently, the spellings and even the names are inconsistent: the title screen is "Kassai and Luk", but the series name is "Kassai and Leuk" (and appears as such on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kassai_and_Leuk) - BUT in French, it's "Samba et Leuk" (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samba_et_Leuk_le_li?vre).
There don't appear to be any available videos of it in English, and the only ones available in French are of the intro, plus some clips that never load on a French website (I suspect you have to log in to view them, but I'm not sure).
The series was inspired by stories (all in French) by the Senegalese author and politician L?opold S?dar Senghor.

yeah, I remember watching it on teletoon when I was a kid.
I got into TF super early in life and so when I saw this cartoon, and the chick turning into a gazelle, I instantly thought it was the neatest cartoon ever. Hehe, at first I thought the rabbit dude was cursed too and I wondered why he would never change back.

Re: Anyone else remember this cartoon from the 90s?

It aired in France as well, I remember watching this when I was young... it definitely helped building my TF interest! I used to find Marana's curse wonderful and wonder why she didn't like it. I still do! ^^

The title was indeed "Samba et Leuk" in French.
