A Small Werewolf Comic....By Me!

Heya peeps! I know it may sound strange, but I decided, out of the blue one day at work, to do a little two page sequence of one of my many characters, Isa, going Werewolf Level 1. I've done a ton of transformation writing, and have been doing artwork in my spare time since 1990, but even for as much as I love the stuff, write about the stuff, and even made characters that transform into stuff, I've never tried drawing any of it.

So this is my first virgin outing with this, so the quality isn't where I would probably want it, but I've already spent quite a bit of time on this already for something I thought would be quick and easy! Either way, I hope you enjoy this little piece and I'm open to hearing opinions on it. And yes, JEM is my artist name, and also the initials of my real name. I'm also truly, truly outrageous.

Well... super sayan werewolf. Quality is not bad although it could use a little coloring, but lines are clear enough.

Re: A Small Werewolf Comic....By Me!

Thanks for the comments. Super Saiyan Werewolf? Well not quite, but I wanted to give her "levels" of power or levels of transformation. Really this shouldn't be Level 1 at all, Level 1 would be her hair turning white (she has black hair normally), eyes turning gold, claws on hands and feet, slightly bigger (muscles, height, weight, breast size, etc) and sharp teeth. This is more like Level 2! But I was heavily influenced by Dragonball Z. If you check out my DA page, you can see that very clearly.

But Isa is my baby, I came up with her a long time ago and I'm getting to the point in my life where I really want to do things with my artwork that I've not done before. This little sequence was nothing more than a few random ideas that ended up coming together better than expected. So I finished it up a bit. I would like to color it, but that will come later as I've got about four different projects I'm working on and coloring eats up a lot of time. I'm also doing everything old school with real pencils, pens and ancient scanners! None of this Wacom, digital tablet stuff for me no sir reeee bob! Though I want one sooooo bad but..$3000? X_x;

Hmm well the ones I look at are the tablets that are basically like monitors that you draw on, and those are still like at least $1000 for a really decent smaller one. I don't mind it being around normal letter size paper dimentions though. I just can't stand to have a pencil/pen/tablet stylus in my hand, but have to look up at a monitor to draw. I know you can get used to it, but..gah! I'm too old for that! HEHE!

Hmm..top 30%? O.o I'll have to do more..and take my work...even......further...beyond! Eyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~ ^_^

More than agree on being able to see what you draw and thus not making the jump to a tablet. I hedge, draw on paper and scan, then tweak and color via a old Wacom Graphire

This is pretty good. The two stage transformations are nice, but in the 3 stage transformations there's very little difference between the middle frame and the other two.

Re: A Small Werewolf Comic....By Me!

Yeah there's a couple reasons for that. One is that my original comic was just one page and there was no back or ear transformation in there and only 1 panel of the tail fully grown. When I thought about it, there just didn't seem to be enough going on to warrant posting it up here, and I knew I could do better. So I added more panels to spread out the transformation a bit. Secondly, I went really subtle for some of these panels due to my own nature of wanting a transformation to be more detailed and slower. The second panels do have a transition to them such as the spine popping out further down her back and the fur growing on her shoulder growing longer. Or the butt shot with the fur growing down her back the tail starting to form before sprouting into a "Short" tail by the 3rd panel. So I guess what I was after was showing several changes happening at once in each frame instead of how most people show a close up of the section that's changing and that's it, such as showing just the ears growing pointed, or just the claws growing, etc. Nothing wrong with doing it that way of course this is just my way of sorting it out in my head. =D Also I should point out that my scanner is cutting off the edges of both pages by a few millimeters, so there's a little more detail lost there.

Honestly I thought people wouldn't like the two panel changes as much because they're almost "poofish" but I guess the next time I should try to make bolder changes in each frame.
