Back to the future
Greetings, friends!
Another contest submission to the Haven, but this time it's very different from my usual approach. Firstly, it is much less explicit (you can even call it "work safe") and secondly, I usually shy away from permanent changes and "personality death". Let me know if it works for you or not. Peace, Lurker. P.S., won the contest.

Somnia
Greetings, friends!
Attached is another of my entries into the monthly contest at Rachel's, titled "Somnia". Since I would not want to bore you with standard fare, I decided to experiment. So this entry is, well, different. Let's start with the subject. The theme of the contest (candy) felt like a good fit for a "The Matrix" caption: take the scene where Morpheus offers Neo a choice of taking the red or the blue pill, replace the pills with candy and Morpheus with a female equivalent, adjust the dialog, bake on medium and see what comes out of it. The "female equivalent to Morpheus" part needed some mythology research. The "original" Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams, was the leader of the Oneiroi, or, as the Romans referred to them, the Somnia. Since "Somnia" sounds like a suitable female name, I went with it. The dialog (see here), I felt, presented an interesting opportunity. Some trimming made it into a monolog that was close to what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to try the minimalist approach: other than cutting parts and substituting "candy" for "pill", I added only four words (well, three and a contraction, if you feel picky), which I believe were enough to get the desired effect. And if that is not ambitious enough, here's the kicker: there is no actual transformation in this caption, only a set-up that may (or may not) result in one. Now, I do understand that many of you may not like it, but still I find it better than repeating the same thing every time. Variety is the spice of life! Peace, Lurker.

A practical joker
Greetings, friends!
One more contest entry, a bit more "conventional" than the first one. Could not find a satisfactory image so had to create one out of several less-than-optimal ones. The story features a certain shop we all know and love... Enjoy! Peace, Lurker.

So not real content, but I ripped this from the Werewoman trailer and I think it could be used for a pretty good caption with whatever context you wanna use.

Chinese Whispers
Greetings, friends!
Yet another Haven contest entry. The topic this time was "secretaries" and while most of the contestants chose to depict a boss getting changed to a secretary, I decided to try something different. The set here is slightly different from my Haven submission as I combined the first 2 panels into one. A terrible cellular reception results in a call quality so low that your secretary has to guess what you meant, and the resulting game of Chinese Whispers (also known as "broken telephone") causes some rather interesting consequences. This entry turned out to be quite an ordeal to make, so I really hope you will enjoy it. It works best if, after reading each of the panels, you go back and try to match the words that the secretary heard to the original statements and the garbled ones from the 1st panel. Peace, Lurker.

Re: The "Official" TG Caption Thread
Hi!
Another new capper here. Always enjoyed reading caps and coming up with my own, but I've never shared my creations previously. I thought I'd give it a shot though and see what people thought. So, here's a couple. I hope you enjoy! Feedback is always appreciated! Last edited by Shifting Silhouette; 06-21-2013 at 11:42 PM. |
