They just sort of evaporate. It all happens at once. The lost mass disperses like smoke, and floats away into hyperspace. You actually feel your insides turning to gas and drifting away from your body. It's like a warm shower washing you away from inside. (Notice how clean they all are, and the freshly styled hair.)
