See, I keep seeing this stuff about growth and shrinking in WoW, and it's tempting me to go through the mind-numbing process of building a server JUST so I can do that. But, see, I don't play. And while you can drop something like $2 to pick up those 10 day trial CDs, I just can't bring myself to.

This is cruel, you know. Because there's a difference between seeing screenshots and actually controlling it.

Well most of the effects achieved are pretty short lived and require a fairly well equipped player to acquire all the neccesary bits to stack the effects. I suppose you could get a trial and have a buddy that plays demonstrate for you, but going through all the trouble of doing it yourself just to see a fully stacked toon probably isn't worth it. To its credit though, the game is pretty awesome... right up until you realize that to progress any further after the maximum level you have to sign your life away to repetitive and boring-as-hell raiding.

Your call dude. =/

Paladins aren't "wimpy" healers. They're great healers, healers that aren't afraid of a little aggro because they've got 8000+ armor between them and meleeing mobs.

I got tired of seeing clothy healers die, so I rolled something with a little more meat on it's bones. And I don't regret it.

um...

paladins are the best healers in the game. a paladin alone can heal a main tank in any instance and never run out of mana.

a class that can main tank or main heal effectively is badass to me.

...exactly. You rolled a paladin specifically to play a healer right? How many people do you think rolled a paladin expecting to play a paladin? You know, the type that instills fear in the hearts of evil gankers at the prospect of being owned, not the oddball cleric that basically out-lives everyone to death. Frankly, I found that boring.

I know some of you love the idea of fighting for five minutes where another class could get the job done in one. And I know some of you love your paladins because you could last forever in an instance helping your guildmates. But those of us expecting to get into fights found out the hard way that trying to do anything but healing (usually behind a bubble, natch) was a sure-fire way to gimp yourself into the ground.

I did the whole heal-and-fight thing with a Ret spec, I did the whole holy tank thing/reactive damage thing with a Prot spec. You know what I learned? WoW's paladin was not the class I wanted to play at all; I certainly didn't start expecting to play a healer. And after awhile, I quit the game altogether. I don't regret playing the game and in fact for awhile I really got into it... But the idea of grinding everything (and I mean flipping EVERYTHING) and spending all my time in the same damned instances every night just got lame.

Also, saying a paladin is the best healer in the game is a matter of perspective, especially considering a paladin's heal will either be slow or incredibly weak. Versus an intelligent opponent a paladin can be completely shut down rather quickly, the exception being the twelve seconds of almighty bubble. =/

Doing size-change on a open-source server is fun for a bit, but quickly wears thin imo.

The real fun is stacking on a live server, where you get bewildered /tells saying "OMG you're so tall! How'd you do that?"

ya but its REALLY difficult to managa on a live server, theres a few easily obtainable buffs, but alot of them require extreme patience (like stacking the soul splits + malfunction), and luck (like backfiring shrink ray), and some durations are just too short, its fun, just difficult, while on a private server, especially if you have a friend come on it with you, can be far far more entertaining than you think.

Especially when its your gf and she LIKES being the bigger one, can lead to interesting roleplay and whatnot.

Oh yes, and MTing paladin, not in any heroics or raids, not without getting an extremely good amount of gear, due to simply having lower HP than warriors, which can be a big negative since mobs can hit so incredibly hard. Paladin is the perfect single target healer, but against group damage opponents, they lack.

Which is why I'd build a private server where you can just type some commands as an admin if the client was just a free download ;p

Actually the client, and even the TBC client can be gotten by free download, both from the worldofwarcraft website actually, you just need to pay for an actual CD key.

https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/t...yfreetrial.htm

you dont actually have to make an account, but you can still use the blizzard downloader link, and

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burni...al/splash.html

but for BC you need to have an account... not that its hard to make an account, since you can register and not actually pay for the 10 day trial or anything, just make up info, log in, then download trial for expansion as well, and taada, you have wow, its mainly time consuming, but otherwise simple, and downloading the patches to update to whatever the current version is generally as simply as searching for "wow patches". Making a private server is slightly more complicated, but I wont get into that, as theres guides all over the place.

Those are the official links, I have no doubt you can find torrents or sites that give the same downloads without actually having to register with worldofwarcraft.com.

for finding growth spells, thottbot.com has a list of scale mod spells
http://www.thottbot.com/?e=Apply%20A...%20Mod%20Scale

And thats everything! not fighting Vashj again till next week here, but hoping ill get to post a screen shot if we fail horribly on phase 2 again.

Did the final talent in the FURY talent tree for warriors ever make you bigger? I thought it did for the first few days then they pactehd it? I remember seeing it once, and it looked just like the beast within on hunters...which of course they fixed.

I just found out the tier-2 armorsmithing breastplate makes you bigger when you right-click it.. damn, I just might have to switch from swordsmith. Maybe once I get 10 nethers and can make the darn thing.
