Human Transformer

I got this thread from watching Beast Wars (definately one of the Better Transformers series, see it yourself if you can). One thing that set Beast Wars out from regular Transformers was that instead of turning into vehicles they transformed into animals.

So i was thining, invision a beautiful woman who in the heat of battle says "(Insert name here), MAXIMIZE!" and transforms into a plasma weapon toaing fembot. Could this work?
