Zora the Vampire

Hello process forums,

this is my first post on these forums so I'm going to try and make it count. During my internet travels I've stumbled across several pages scanned from an old Italian comic book called Zora La Vampira. I've tasked myself with not only doing a little restoration to the scanned pages, but translating the Italian into English and rewriting the comic to be more appreciated by an English speaking audience.

And since I haven't seen it posted here yet, I've decided to share it with you guys. You know, since it might be relevant to your interests and all! Anyway, I only have fifteen out of 72 pages done... Oh, by the way sorry if I'm breaking any rules in advance; I don't know the copy right situation on this comic, all I know is that it hasn't been published for decades.

Anyway, I'll add more later. Feel free to leave any comments, questions, or concerns! =D

Edit: here are the zip files containing the comic now that it is FINALLY done.
Attached Files
File Type: zip Original Comic.zip (8.10 MB, 102 views)
File Type: zip Rewritten Comic.zip (19.44 MB, 146 views)

Re: Zora the Vampire

Well you certainly started off well in your very first post.

Welcome to the Process Forum Matthew.

As for the comic, Thank you very much for translating though I have to ask does she actually swear that much?

I can`t say its my thing as far as artwork goes but it is enjoyable.

Last page surprised me.
Satan.

Actually no, she doesn't swear that much in the original text. I took some creative liberties and injected some of my own writing for several reasons.

1. The directly translated dialogue is really campy, and just sounds unnatural when you read it aloud. So I threw in some stuff to add a little extra emotion, and action to the comic without taking away or changing the story behind it. Oh, while we're on the story.

2. I lied, I actually did edit some of the exposition featured in page 13. Why? Well, because this is only a part of a much larger comic... or so I am assuming. Despite the fact that Zora la Vampira had literally hundreds upon hundreds of published issues, these 72 pages were all I could find.

Anyway, on the original Italian page Zora alludes to several things that must have happened in that mansion. Most of them wouldn't have made sense to a reader if I left them in in this translation, so I edited them out.

3. On the Satan note, I was a bit surprised too. Originally, she actually used Satan's name in vain on page nine. I substituted it with a swear because typing "by Satan!" felt silly. Anyway, just keep in mind that Zora is a vampire, and she is not of the sparkly variety.

Oh, it's also worth noting that I'm working with a high school level understanding of the Italian language. So there is a good chance I did get some things completely wrong. XD

Here's another ten pages. There's some watersports on pages 24 and 25, so there's that warning. Also, I had a lot of trouble translating page 22, so there's that warning.

You're doing a very good job with this matey. I've seen a few of the pics before but this translation is whole lot better.

More power to ya!

But I'm glad to see them now translated into English.

Thank you very much for sharing, Matthew the Mouse.
