Breast Prothesis - ideas?

Hi guys!

Does anyone have any ideas for inflating a breast? I am hoping to make a naked breast expand to twice, maybe 2.5 times the size I am now in a video, BUT the big question is how to make it happen? I know there are many producers and artists on this message board, maybe you guys have some ideas?

I work in the Fx industry building animatronic creatures.

The best way I think would be to make a molded chest out of a very soft silicon rubber, most likely Ecoflex 50 from SmoothOn. Then use an air bladder or a liquid filled bladder to inflate behind it. There would have to be a solid backing though to keep the outward pressure pushing away from the chest. This is if you want to see skin during the inflation. If its clothed then a bladder rig with some pushup bras would be the way to go. I could elaborate more if you want.

liquid would get the best visuals, but could be very heavy. Still, the added weight nad the struggling wit hit could add a great deal to the performance and realism ^_^

Animatronic creatures? Very cool.

Silicone rubber, interesting! I want to show the breasts nude expanding (will also have to build a nipple). I will look into this first thing tomorrow morning.

I think sweaterpupbreeder (youtube/deviantart) had a great prosthesis idea, but he kind of disappeared and didn't really share how he did it.

On a side note I love your videos Missa. Very devoted to the character, which makes a huge difference.

These guys are about the only ones I know who make the product. May be a bit too large for what you are looking for. I believe they provided Mastasia with their props.

Saline solution drip.
Painful as hell and must be done by a pro, like a trained nurse or something. But its real breast skin and it inflates very slowly so you get to do many takes of whatever dialog is going on while you're doing it.

Id be more then happy to answer any questions. And I did chat with Sweaterpupbreeder and got some clues to his rig. Its mostly push up bras and balloons along with just the right clothing. He never made any drawings or video that showed the inner works so yeah. But if you want to see the naked breast as it expands then a silicon prosthetic is the way to go.

I assume you hire yourself out and charge rates. Say I had a project exactly along these lines for you. Assuming a torso mold of an actress and a set of prostheses, what would you charge for materials and labor? And for the same with three or four sets of prostheses, continually larger than the next, to swap out between cuts for the illusion of continuous growth?

Define "firm backing". Do you mean some kind of molded chest plate that you attach the bladders to?

Where would one obtain polyurethane bladders, anyway? Are they a thing you can DIY out of the right materials?

I would think a single unit would lead to the cleavage furrow projecting outward with the rest of the breasts when the prostheses were enlarged. Would it be practical to create a separate prostheses for each breast to avoid that?

Bit of a non sequitor, but do you get asked to do mundane make-up a lot?

Ill answer those questions in the morning. BUt to give you a ball park idea materials would be around $500-$1500 and labor runs around $23 a hour. The amount of days of labor depends on exactly what is being done. And yes I do normal and Fx make up on a daily basis. Almost zombie season again.
