Really, if the BEA forum became pay only - it would be stupid for it to not go "gimme gimme gimme!".

Given the fact the forum was hacked and purged less than a month ago, sure - hacking is a possibility. Then again, software is far from infallible.

Despite it having nothing to do with me, I'll ask about it when I can... hopefully, it'll be resolved by then.

Hey Tenebrae, who would you ask? The slight disconnect between the mods and the actual "keepers" of the site was a topic after the last hack/crash. As there are a few links to the forums scattered around the MAIN BEA site I tired them and one actually took me to the login page and didn't loop back to the home page.
This feels more like one of the typical site crashes where parts will slowly come back up as the powers that BE get to the sections in turn.

* Some aspects of the site were still not working properly after the last hack/crash. It could be that this is just some drastic site reworking and nothing malicious. But we may never know.

So PT, if you ask someone and it suddenly starts working do we have you to thank?

The forums At BEA use to be free, but now they are no longer free. You must be a paid member to go through their forums.

I wonder why these things at the BEA seem to sit in limbo recently? The other time it was down and lost all of the old messages there were almost no official comments on what was happening. Was that time related to hacking?

I suspect it will be back in a few days, and here will only be vague rumors about what happened this time.

If the forum was going pay, there would be some official posting about it. We wouldn't just be speculating about reasons why the forum isn't working.

I spoke with Gabe yesterday and he said "The forum is currently down while we switch forum software, which should be done by the end of the week."

Probably upgrading to something a bit more secure.

Ah, beat me to it... There's a message up to advise people of the upgrade anyway... admittedly, that will only show up if you're trying to access the forum via the main URL.

Yeah PT, I tried to get into the forum today and this message comes up...

"The forum is currently down for maintenance. The new and improved forum should be up by this weekend. Please be patient while we fix a few things. If you are looking for the BEA members area, please visit this link."
