Don't misunderstand... I am all for paying for content as a way to thank and encourage artists who cater to our interests and don't begrudge any artist that wishes for their content not to be distributed. But let's not get on our high horse about piracy and artistic theft when our community was started around and flourished through the distribution and sharing of a lot of copyrighted/pay content.
Once again someone starts bitching about this rule.

Flat out, this is what it boiled down to. I don't give a shit what you think about the rule, how you feel, nada. Really don't care.

It's Lorekeep's rule. Deal with it. This forum would be shut down if he let anyone post whatever they wanted and to hell with the owners. The new user didn't seem to understand this, so I spelled it out for him. Get the fuck off your morality horse and sit down. This is not becoming an arguement.

Wow.

I know it's the internet and everyone's immediate first reaction to a logical argument is to jump head first over the deep end, but take a deep breath. Relax. Reread the post. There is no malice. I didn't call your mother a whore or question your manhood, so please put the e-peen back in the pants.

I'm aware of the rules. I'm also well aware of why they are the way they are. Lorekeep can and should run this site any way he deems fit. Particularly if it keeps him out of trouble and prevents the site from being shut down.

My point was merely an observation that there's been a wave of hand-wringing and righteous indignation over paid content of late (not just on this site, but among the community as a whole) and it's really kind of sad when a) it's not really moral outrage and more just fear of legal action (particularly when manga scans and video clips from non-internet-based pay sites continue to be fruitful and multiply) and b) you consider the history of this community. This community was built largely on intellectual property theft. Sure it was built on a shared passion for a particular group of sexual proclivities, but I seriously doubt it would've ever taken off without the willingness of good people (myself included, many years ago..) to share what they had: their talent with a pen, their ability to write a story, or... god forbid, their collection of related footage, pictures, manga, and comics. The earliest sites were very simple depositories of video clips, archives of morphs, and collections of stories and we all thought little of it. I'd like to think that that history lives on to a certain degree at this site and a couple of others, but perhaps I'm naive. I suppose you could blame the corporatization of the internet... nevermind. I've rambled on long enough.

My apologies for the old man "back in my day" routine. I have a tendency to make a short story long.

I guess the tl;dr version is "Go easy on the beggars. We were all there once." That and "what Nostrum said".

Err, you can use that argument for any kind of PC software. Like, I can't figure out how to get one of my old Windows 95 programmes from my Compile Discstation subscription to run on Windows Vista. The same with newer software on older machines (e.g. Elderscrolls III: Morrowind).

Though, in this case, there isn't a trial version to test to see if it will automatically work on your system or not. If you are inexperienced or new at running Japanese software on your machine, you probably shouldn't buy this until you try out software demos and trials from a number of other creators to see if you can get those to run.

I understand your sentiments though, I personally do not want to buy anything that might not work amicably on my computer either.
